Scientific Project

- SCIENTIFIC PROJECT -
This year in the INTO ORBIT Challenge, the teams taking part in the FIRST LEGO League tournament have to carry out a Scientific Project to solve a real, physical or social problem, which the human being faced during long-term space exploration. For this, they have to design an innovative solution that adds value to society improving something that already exists or by inventing something completely new.

From the beginning, WSTA's goal has been to prevent astronauts from undergoing irrevocable changes in their physiological systems. As many experts claim, exposure to microgravity makes the loss of both bone and muscle mass in space travel can be up to 10% per month. In order to solve this problem, we have created the ElectrosuitThe idea is based mainly on incorporating an electrofitness machine into a comfortable and safe suit for astronauts. The suit has electrodes placed in specific areas of the body, which, in turn, are connected to a central system that makes them work. Exercising with the Electrosuit put, the benefits of training will be much greater and the reduction of muscle and bone mass will be 5% lower. In addition, the suit acts like a second skin and therefore, is hardly noticeable. The astronauts have to put on some gloves and socks with muscles gauges twice a month to collect information about their muscles.

Thanks to BFit we have had the opportunity of trying on an electrode vest and try a "prototype" of our suit. If you want to know a little more about this physiotherapy and personal training centre, this is its website: http://bfit-getxo.com/
